Current Projects

The Teaching Research Institute Child Development Center (CDC), located at Western Oregon University, has provided quality care and education to young children and their families for over 25 years. The program currently serves children, ages 30 months to 6 years from the university and the surrounding community.

Model demonstration

In addition to providing quality childcare to students, faculty and the community, the Teaching Research Child Development Center also serves as the model demonstration site for several federally funded projects.

Training Opportunities

The Teaching Research Institute offers workshops designed to meet the professional development needs of childcare providers, parents, preschool teachers, and special education staff working with young children with or without disabilities or at risk for developmental delay in a variety of early childhood settings.


TRIM

The Teaching Research Inservice Model (TRIM) is a model for planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating professional development. It has been used to develop training across a variety of disciplines and in numerous content areas. TRIM can be accessed on-line or as a face-to-face workshop.


TRAC

TRAC Trainer Training is for individuals who want to learn how to train others in the TRAC curriculum. This five day training is hands-on, skill based instruction including discussion, practice, and observation in a model child development center. The TRAC curriculum is designed to enhance the skills of early childhood care and education providers.

Projects at the Teaching Research Institute are funded through a variety of local, state and national organizations including the U.S. Department of Education and the Oregon Department of Education.
