TRAC Alternate Schedules for Foundations Unit
Although experience and research support the idea that intense training is needed for sustained change and implementation of learning, participating in 18 hours of training is a challenge for most early childhood care and education providers. For this reason, alternate schedules for the TRAC Foundation Unit have been developed. The following alternative schedules are provided as an example of how trainers can modify the training to fit their agency's needs. The materials on this page are intended for current TRAC trainers.
The 4 Day Schedule divides the content into two six hour sessions and two three hours sessions. The six hour sessions are designed to be conducted on weekends or inservice days where full days are available for the training. The three hour sessions can be held on the mornings or afternoons on weekends, during evenings, or when partial inservice days are available.
The 5 Day Schedule divides the content into one six hour session and four three hour sessions. The six hour session can be conducted on a weekend or during an all day inservice day. The three hour session can take place on weekends or during evenings.
The 6 Day Schedule divides the content into six three hour sessions. The sessions can be conducted on weekends, evenings, or during scheduled inservice times. This schedule is useful when full days are not available to conduct the training.
The 9 Day Schedule divides the content into nine two hour sessions. This schedule would work best when the trainer and participants have only short periods of time available (2 hours) over an extended time period such as evenings or during staff meetings. The training can also be delivered on part of a weekend (morning or afternoon). This may be a good option when working with an individual program or center and needing to deliver training during weekly staff meetings.
